According to CBS MarketWatch, WAL-MART has given up in Germany, selling all 85 stores to METRO AG at a loss of about $1 billion. "Wal-Mart's been facing difficulty competing against Metro and privately held Aldi in Germany. It's also struggled against Tesco in Britain." This should give hope to everyone struggling against the behemoth. It only succeeds where the Race to the Bottom is allowed to proceed unmitigated. WAL-MART apparently does not succeed where living wages are required.
