More on Monkey Morality

Nicholas Wade, a leading science writer appearing in the New York Times, has gotten around to "biological naturalism" as it evolved and applies in primates. Primate morality is the subject of several recent books, such as Hauser's Moral Minds and deWaal's Primates and Philosophers, which were reviewed in these pages several moons ago.

Wade gives these books a friendly nod, but also notes that several philosophers (not just me) point out the problems in ethical theories based on primate behavior.
